Are You Wondering If You Really Need Body Building Supplements?

November 2, 2011

Body building supplements are used by millions around the world once the decision is made to graduate from an occasional lifter to a more serious athlete. Regular body builders and professional body builders take many different supplements. They do this because this is a sport that regularly tears down muscles and joints. Training without supplements will take longer to realize the same results if they’re used, and so many just have a preference to see faster gains. A lot of people figure they’re fine and start taking supplements, but you just never know and they prudent move is to see your family doctor and make sure everything is good and safe. But for now, we’d like to talk about the more commonly used supplements.

Lots of people use the everday protein bar, and these is consumed by even very serious lifters. Millions of non-body building types eat them. Protein bars are very easy to find and are sold just about anywhere any kind of food is sold – except hot dog stands.

The way most people use them is for an additional amount of protein to supplement during the day. There is a negative with most protein bars, and that is most don’t really taste all that palatable. You will not find too many people, other than the die-hard, eating them every day.

The category of supplements containing amino acids are highly popular. You can find synthesized amino acid supplements. If you’re really into it, you can purchase just one kind of amino acid.

However it’s probably best when you’re just starting out to use a general supplement of amino’s that contains many different kinds. Naturally, another good idea is to see your doctor and have a chat about what you plan to do. If there is something you really don’t need, then you don’t need to supplement with it. Even if you do light supplementation, it will assist your body with the healing process after you lift or workout.

For a little more lively debate, there is the supplement class of anti-estrogens. Estrogen and testosterone occur in both sexes; with women having more estrogen and men more testosterone. Each hormone effects many other processes, but very basically it’s that estrogen regulates the pituitary gland’s ability to make testosterone. The body needs testosterone to maintain strength. So the deal is that reducing estrogen will cause more testosterone and more strength. Talk with your doctor before you pursue this particular line of supplement. It should be obvious that women body builders should be extra careful about this – see your doctor. Body building supplements come in all shapes, sizes and substances. Weight lifters routinely impose great stress and punishment on their bodies. The simply rationale for a regimen of supplements is to compensate for load requirements as well as gaining a competitive edge. If you think you would benefit from supplements, talk to your doctor. He will be able to help you figure out what you need more of in your system and how much of it you should take.
